Calvert County BOE Appoints Two Principals

Calvert County Public Schools’ (CCPS) Board of Education (BOE) approved the appointment of two Principals at the May 23 meeting. The following individuals were appointed: Dr. Joe Sampson, Principal of Mill Creek Middle School and Mr. Ryan Crowley, Principal of Southern Middle School.

Dr. Joe Sampson is currently serving as the Coordinator of Maryland Leads Grant and Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. Prior to serving in that position, Dr. Sampson served as the Principal of Calvert Elementary School in 2017. He has held positions as a principal and assistant principal, as well as an Art Educator. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from South Carolina State University, his master’s from the University of Phoenix in Administration and Supervision, and his Doctorate from the University of Phoenix.

Ryan Crowley is currently serving as the Assistant Principal at Patuxent-Appeal Campus (PAC). Prior to being hired in this position, Mr. Crowley worked as a Dean at PAC, Instructional Specialist and an IEP Facilitator in Charles County Public Schools. Mr. Crowley began his teaching career as a special education teacher in 2005 at Mill Creek Middle School, later transferring to Southern Middle School. Mr. Crowley earned his bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his master's degree from the College of Notre Dame.
